British shorthair cat

Introduction:
British cat is domestic cat and it is very lovely cat. British cats are very active. The British shorthair cat is pedigreed version of British of domestic cat. It has the chunky body and broad face. The British cat has the familiar colour of blue and blue gray with copper eyes.
British cat has the medium tail including the tabby and colour point. It remains the most popular in the modern time pedigreed breed in the native country.
British cat has the good appearance and relatively calm temperament.
History:
British cat origins most date back to first century, making it one of the more ancient the breed of cat in the world. These cat then interbred with local European wild cat population.  The modern British cat basically unchanged from this initial type because this British cat looks same like old British cat.
The new British shorthair was featured at the first ever cat show organized by the Weir.

British Shorthair breeders also worked with the French Chartreux the another ancient breed which although genetically unrelated to the British Blue is a very similar cat in appearance.
In 1970 the breeders also worked to re-establish the true British type.

Appearance:

A fully mature British blur male showing the characteristics of heavy jowls and unique. British shorthair cat is very large and power full looking large cat and having the broad chest and strong thick set legs with round paws and having the blunt tipped tail. 

This cat has the round eyes that are the deep coppery orange in British blue but varying in colour depend upon the colour of coat. This cat breed has the large and broad ear. The short hair can be characterized by having the pointed ears.

These cat breed are very slow to become mature as compare to other cat breeds. At the three year of age. 

Coat, colour and patterns:

British blue remains the most familiar variant and British shorthair have been developed in other many colour and pattern like Black , blue, white ,cream and golden. All colour and pattern also have the tortoise shell variants.

Temperament:

British short hair cat breed are easy going breed and it is not the playful cat like the other cat breed but it has the sweet natured. This character making them more favorite of animal trainers.

They tends to be safe and around the other pets and children but as a rule do not like to be picked up or carried.

Health:

It is consider the UK committee the British short hair cat long lived cat almost the life expectancy 14 to 20 years. Vet clinic data from England shows a median lifespan of 11.8 years.

 Swedish insurance data puts the median lifespan of the breed at 12.5 years. 82% of British Shorthairs lived to 10 years or more and 54% lived to 12.5 years or more.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can be a problem in the breed. A Danish prevalence study with more than 329 cats showed that 20.4% of males and 2.1% of the females had HCM. On top of this 6.4% of males and 3.5% of females were judged to be equivocal.

The breed is thought to be at high risk of polycystic kidney disease. A DNA test lab has noted a significant decrease of the PKD mutations in tested populations.
